Fall has made its way to New England, and I could not be happier! As much as everyone loves the warmth and fun of the summer months, the heat can be a challenge for me so I’m always more than happy to usher in crisp temperatures and all the beautiful foliage that New England Fall has to offer. I’m so excited to team up with Sarah of Cozy Little Joys and Shannon of A Dash of Solt to share our Fall Capsule wardrobes. We’re all classic style-obsessed working toddler mamas, so each of our capsules is filled with pieces that can be worn in a variety of different ways from Zoom meetings to playground playdates. We hope you love them!
Black Denim
My black jeans are a wardrobe workhorse through the Fall and Winter. My tried-and-true JCrew toothpick black jeans ripped last year after almost a decade of wear and, with my size changing through postpartum and breastfeeding, I couldn’t justify spending the money to replace them. I got these Kut from the Kloth raw edge black jeans from the Nordstrom sale and they are so good. The waist is high enough that I can move around as much as a toddler mama needs to without anything falling down, and also stretchy enough that I can sit at my desk for long periods of time without having to unbutton them (please tell me you do this, too…). They are skinny enough stay tight to your leg inside tall boots, and look so cute with flats and loafers!
Chambray Popover
I have a few chambray shirts, but the popover version from JCrew is one that I go back to over and over. It’s the perfect lightweight for layering, and the buttons are functional. I also love the military-style pockets and the color is the perfect light washed denim.
Herringbone Vest
This exact herringbone print is from a few years ago, but JCrew Factory has an amazing houndstooth print puffer vest this year that I’m obsessed with! I’m not much of a print person, but this classic print goes so well with every neutral color, and is the perfect layer to throw on as the weather gets cooler in the evening or for a morning coffee run.
Striped Boatneck Sweater
This striped sweater is new to me last year. I have lots of stripes in my closet, and I love the thicker stripe on this sweater. The weight is perfect for Fall – heavy enough to keep you warm, but not so heavy that you’ll sweat in the afternoon sun. The boatneck is super flattering, too. I love pairing this with my trench coat for a classic Audrey moment.
Buffalo Plaid Shirtdress
This shirtdress from Abercrombie & Fitch is one of my favorite newer purchases. I was fully influenced last year to buy it, and wound up wearing it for Thanksgiving! It’s a thick cotton so it’s definitely warm, and it washes really well. The tie waist is a great detail that makes it a little more sophisticated that an average shirtdress. The length is perfect for petite ladies, too. It’s a bit shorter, but looks great paired with black tights and boots or booties! They have the exact same one this year and it’s on sale!!
Black Suede Loafers
I have had these loafers for years – like, years. They are so easy to throw on and are really one of my most-worn pairs of shoes. The suede has held up so well, and I love the smoking slipper style of them. I also have them in gray with black piping!
Tortoise Sunnies
I got these sunnies earlier this summer, and I couldn’t love them more. I’ve always worn black-framed sunglasses since my regular glasses are tortoise, but these are the perfect light tortoise print and the shape is so classic. I can’t wait to wear them through the winter, too!
