Happy Summer, friends! With the longest day of the year officially behind us, it feels like summer is in full-swing. Pool days, mornings at the beach, afternoons in the sprinkler, and all the ice pops.
I don’t know about you guys, but I love dressing for summer. I’m all about easy dresses, pull-on shorts, and slide-on shoes. Maybe it’s all the months we New Englanders need to think about layers and bots and heavy coats, but the few short months we get of one-piece outfits feel like bliss. That being said, I also love to have a go-to layering piece with me in the summer for stepping into the air conditioning or when the temperatures drop at night.
I picked up this long line cardigan in the most beautiful light pink color last summer during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and turns out one of my favorite ladies, Shannon, has the same one in a different color – so, we decided to team up and bring you three ways each to style this perfectly lightweight and easy cardigan for summer!
Over a Dress
I got this midi dress from Target a few weeks ago for Jacob’s first birthday pictures and it’s quickly become a favorite. This length can be a challenge for my petite height and less-than-long legs, but I sized down and love the way this one fits. The buttons are functional which makes it great for nursing, and it’s fully lined! The navy and pink details are so pretty, and compliment the brighter pink of this cardigan so well.
Over Shorts and a Knit Tee
Shannon and I actually both have this exact same outfit! These shorts fit so well – drawstring waist, really good length and back coverage, and they wash really well, too. I’ve been pairing them with this tee which is also really well-lined and not see-through at all, but still lightweight enough that I don’t feel stuffy in the heat.
Over Loungwear
I’m not a big robe girl – never have been. I had one maternity robe that I wore when I literally could not fathom wearing pants at the end of my pregnancies (ha), but other than that I’m always in a pajama set or separates. I also have a husband who likes to keep our house borderline frigid so I love layering this cardigan over my pj’s or lounge sets, especially first thing in the morning.
